Red X on mapped drives Win2000 Client

I've checked out the articles re: reg entries, tried the SP4 but still
happens.

Any thoughts?
 
check permissions on the mapped drives to make sure that you do have permissions to it and that the server hosting that drives have no connection issues.
 
This happens in my domain all the time. It does this because the link is not active. As soon as you ask the workstation to look at the mapped drive it reconnects and the x will go away. The x will not show up until the connection has been dormant for a certain amount of time. I am sure someone knows how to adjust this time frame but seeing as it does not affect the functionality of the workstation I am not sure it is worth the effort to adjust.
