Running XP Home.

I have just extracted some tgz files into a folder, using 7-zip
portable. I now discover that the folder icon, as displayed in Explorer,
has an exclamation point on a red background superimposed on the icon.
What does this mean?

Do you use some backup software? I you do it may mean you have to backup the
folder. You could be seeing green checkmark too.
In the backup configuration, there is an option to disable icon overlays in
Explorer and remove them.

Rey,

I do not use any standard backup software -- I have my own backup
regime.

I have been using XP for many years, and this is the first time I have
ever seen a red exclamation point, and this is only on one folder.

I have never seen a green checkmark.

I will explore how to remove checkmarks.
