red dot popup

My screen continually shows a red dot (size of a dime) with a white "X" and an OK box to eliminate the dot. I use Windows Professional XP which came with computer.

What is that all about please? It is worse than spam. HELP1......

Use Spyware removal tools like spybot or ad aware to detect and remove malware and trojans.
