How difficult is it to change the hidden attribute on the recycler files so I
can view the contents?

Not difficult at all. It still won't let you see the files. Maybe you should explain what you are trying to do.

I haven't used any of those since I have professional data recovery
software, but they are probably worth a go. Do nothing further on the
machine while you are attempting data recovery.
