That is not a function of Windows XP. You have installed some third party
program that is doing this for you. Search through its menus and you'll find
a setting to turn this behavior off.
Thank you Ted for such a speedy response. I've recently
installed both 'Windows XP Service Pack 2' and 'Kodak
EasyShare Software'. Should the problem lie with either
of these and, myself, not being other than a comparative
newcomer to acquired computer skills, I'm afraid that I
wouldn't know just where to search! Not wishing to impose
intentionally on your further willingness to assist, yet
it would help, very considerably if you could! Thank you
in advance.Emlyn
You couldn't be more of a newcomer than I was. I was so toxic to a computer
that Norton Antivirus added my name to its list of viruses.
Service Pack 2 certainly doesn't empty your Recycle Bin on shutdown, and I
seriously doubt that Kodak's program would do that. Open your Start menu and
look at the programs you have on your computer.
But try this first: Right-click on your Recycle Bin and select Properties.
Is there a checkmark in 'Do not move files to the Recycle Bin. Remove files
immediately when deleted'? If so, your deleted files are not being stored in
the Recycle Bin to begin with. Remove the checkmark.
Thanks again Ted.
No checkmark under 'Properties' where you had indicated.
My problem I'm afraid Ted is that frankly, in 'checking'
the programs one by one on my computer as you indicated,
what step by step procedure do I adopt to find the
elusive part to 'turn off' in each one?
If you can help further Ted, or anyone else out there
with far, far more knowledge than myself, (and there must
be many hundreds of thousands at least) I shall truly be
most grateful.
Thanks in advance to one and all and especially to you
Ted.
