My recycle bin on desktop shows I have files to be deleted, I go to empty the bin and no files appear, if I click on empty I get a message "are you sure you want to delete windows", can someone throw some light on this please.

you are clicking on the wrong line...
if you have "windows" in that bin...just open the bin...and restore that
line item...RIGHT CLICK....

this is some kind of windows bug. the windows folder doesn't appear in
the recycle bin, even when ShowSuperHidden is on.

i have the same problem, but couldn't find a solution for it yet besides
restarting windows. it smells like another xp bug though.

can you pinpoint when this problem started to appear on your system?
with me, i think it, it began when i upgraded the .net framework from
1.0 to 1.1, but can't be sure.

i already have, to no avail.

i also noticed another problem - most likely either the cause or another
symptom. when this happens and i restart windows, during the disk check
i get an error saying chkdsk doesn't recognize the file system (it's
ntsf), but windows loads fine. if i restart it again i get no errors.
event viewer doesn't report any errors.

i'm running windows 5.1 (build 2600.xpsp2.030422-1633 : service pack
1). it's up-to-date, and it's highly unlikely this is a virus.

thank you. have an amazing day.
