Recycle Bin ,the same program twice

When I use the recycle bin to click on favorites I get the same program twice
on
the Task Bar how do I fix this.

Hi Bench,

If I understand what your conveying in your post.. when you click on the
recycle bin and select favorites, two instances of Recycle bin appear in
your task bar, or two instances of favorites?

Try clicking on "My Documents" folder and selecting Favorites from there?
Lets see If your getting two instances of "My Documents" on task bar the
Task Bar how do I fix this.

I get two instances of favorites show up on the task bar when I click on
favorites on the recycle bin and my computer but not on Internet Explorer 7 .
 
While I still don't understand the reference to "favorites on the recycle
bin"...

You may have a horked (dirty; bad; flawed) install of IE7. I suggest that
you..,

1. Uninstall IE7 (which automatically returns you to IE6) per
http://www.ie-vista.com/kbase2.html

2. Uninstall all toolbars and third-party Windows Themes (including Window
Blinds).

3. Reinstall IE7 per http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install,
and using http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/default.mspx as the
installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update.

take a deep breath and rephrase this question. 'I use the recycle bin
to click on favorites' means absolutely nothing. 'I use IE7 to click
on favorites' means not much more.

What exactly are you doing, and what exactly is the problem?

Hi Benchwarmer

Like some of the other posters, I'm having trouble understanding what
you mean.

When you said "I use the recycle bin or My Computer to click on
Favorites" -- I guessed you meant you opened the bin or My Computer
(i.e. a folder window) and clicked on the Favorites menu.

But that menu's just a list of web links, not programs, so I really
don't get what you mean by "I get the same Favorites program twice on
the Task Bar", What program are you talking about? Could you please say
exactly what you do and what you see? Sorry to be dense but it really
isn't clear from your post.
 
I'll try it again I have 18 web links on my favorites menu one of them is
Florida Lottery when I click on The recycle bin or my computer and then click
on favorites,
and then Florida Lottery , Florida Lottery or any other favorite, shows up
twice on
the Task Bar at the botton of my screen to the right of start menu .
It does not do it when I use I.E.7 to click on favorites. The Florida
Lotterry or any
other Favorites shows up twice on my task bar at the bottom of the screen
I'am using Windows XP Home with Internet explorer 7 I don't know how else to
explaine it .

Thanks for trying again :-) If I've got this right -- what you mean is,
you are getting two instances of IE showing the Florida Lottery page (or
other favorite) when you start it this way?
 
When I use the ( recycle bin or my computer) to click on favorites and like
click on
the link florida lottery it shows up twice on the task bar, or any other
favorites links shows up twice on the task bar, but florida lottery or any
other favorites link only shows up once on the task bar when I use Internet
explorer 7 to click on favorites and then the link, when I click florida
lottery or any other link on favorites using IE7. it works normal it only
shows up once on the task bar . obivously I have a problem that has never
been heard of before .

openning (displaying on the taskbar) when he clicks the link..

But I'm with you - He should uninstall IE7 - repair his installation of XP
as needed before attempting to put IE7 back on.

And?

if the 'problem' is that the site shows up twice on the task bar, and
that is the only problem you have, then there is no problem. You're
just using your computer in a very strange way.

If I click on 'my computer' in the Start menu and then click on the c:
drive, then click on 'my computer again in the start menu, then go
back to the first window I opened and click on 'back', then my taskbar
shows two instances of 'My Computer'. So what?

What exactly is the problem? And why the heck are you using the
recycle bin for anything except rescuing stuff you deleted by
accident?

I suspect you're not using the recycle bin at all. I think you're
talking about something else entirely and calling it the recycle bin.

Are you sure, Bear? I was assuming the OP meant he was opening the
recycle bin either with double-click or right-click/Open and then
clicking on its Favorites menu. My bin, like an ordinary folder window,
does have one -- not that it has ever occurred to me to use the bin this
way :-)
 
Oh, /that/ Favorites.

Yes, opening (Internet Explorer) Favorites via any Windows Explorer window
is known to elicit this behavior.

Patient (demonstrating): "Doctor, it hurts when I do /this!"
Doctor: "Don't do that."

Don't do that.
