Hello,

1) Try the registry fix here
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
( line 64, col 2)

2) Are you using Zone Alarm? This article may help
http://www.computing.net/security/wwwboard/forum/17471.html

3) Failing the rest, you may want to reinstall and uninstall Norton

4) Fully uninstall *all* norton products (last resort)

Right click on the Recycle Bin. Uncheck the box that says: "Do not
move files to the Recycle Bin". And, depending on the size of the
HD partition, move the slider to select a size for the Recycle Bin
per drive. To simplify matters, use one setting for all drives.

Thanks, I will try your 1st step, "1) Try the registry fix here

I do not have Zone Alarm, & uninstalled Norton anti virus suite few years
ago - been like this since. Im thinking that somehow the BIN has files in
it, but won't delete, cause i have cleabed up my hard drive but not making
much difference, and i deleted / uninstalled / emptied bin but not much
change, only 2 gb freed up.
Will check and make sure all norton references are gone in the registry - is
that it?
I have a program called Windows Registry repair Pro, that i've ran 5 times
and fixed alot, i mean ALOT of invlaid stuff... but... not this.
Im sure your tip #1 will help, if not, i'll be back. Thx.

How do you know it was invalid "stuff" removed by that registry cleaner?
That is the crux of the problem with these tools. I have not used that
program, but I recommend you do not use any registry cleaner. Unused
entries in the registry generally do not cause problems. The way to deal
with the the registry is to manually edit or delete settings, and only those
that you know are causing a problem. At the very least do not let the
cleaner do it's thing automatically. The only way to consider using one, in
my opinion, is as a guide to suggest changes, then research those changes
and only change those things that the research indicates needs to be. This
should be done on a problem basis or to address a specific issue. Otherwise
you are at the mercy of whatever the program decides is not needed, and it's
not unusual that some time down the line for what appears to be inexplicable
reasons, some problem crops up, due to the "cleaner" having removed
something that should have been, and it's almost impossible to trace. We
routinely get posts in here where some problem has appeared and a registry
cleaner was recently used. They are a snake oil remedy.
