Chris

Hi,

I am having a hard time trying to figure out the solution for this, if there
is one.

With either Outlook 2000 or Outlook 2003, when I create a recurring
appointment, for say 4 weeks, and after the end date, EVERYTHING is deleted.

Is there a way to keep the past data from the recurring appoitment?

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your post.

Based on my research, the recurring appointment will be archived after the
end date. You may use the following the steps to get the original recurring
appointment:

1. Start Outlook, and located to the Calendar folder.
2. Click View->Arrange By->Current View, and click By Category.
3. Click the Calendar in Archive Folders, and you can find the proper
recurring appointment from the right panel.

Hope this helps. Have a nice day!

Thanks & Regards

Can anyone help me out with this scenario?

If I try to end a recurring appointment, I lose all past information (any
changes that I have made throughout the series such as moving one occurrence
from one day to another). Is there any way to keep all past information in
a recurring series when you need to change all future appointments?

Hi Chris,

Hey Chris,

Thanks for your posting back.

As you have not archived the calendar, the recurrence appointment will
still display in the calendar folder after the end-date.

As for the issue on your end, you may check it on some other Outlook
clients.

Also, you may create a new profile on the problematic Outlook. To do so:

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your update.

Please reproduce the issue, and capture the popup error message. Please
upload it to the newsgroup.

Also, please check the archive setting for the Calendar. Open the
Properties of Calendar, and check the auto-archive configuration under
AutoArchive tab.

In addition, please check the other appointments which are out-of-date. Do
they exist or not?

I am waiting for your update. Have a nice day!

Hi Chris/Alan,

I also have tried to make changes to recurring appointments but the
history and/or execptiuons are always lost... I have been checking the
newgroups for quick a while now and this is a VERY COMMON concern but
to date I have not found anyone with a solution... There are a number
of suggestion on how to make the changes but to date none have
worked... It seems to boil down to the fact that a recurring
appointment is a single appointment and any changes to that
appointment losses access to the execptions...

The closest I got was that someone was going to to a coding change...
IE Copy all execptions, make a new appointment and then put the
execption information back into the recurring appointment...

I'm still waiting to see if this has worked... Any help or suggestions
on how this can be done or if there is a MS tool it would be greatly
appreciated...

Scott

Scott, I too have been chasing a solution to the exact problem you've
described. It is critical that I save the variances and notes I've made over
the last two years of a recurring appointment that I now wish to end. I'm
almost at the point of going back through my calendar and copying each
appointment (which retains the notes I've made), then deleting the entire
series. I'm hoping there is an easier way to accomplish this since I have
other recurring appointment that will require the same attention at some
point in the future.

Please contact me at (e-mail address removed) if you stumble onto a solution to this
problem.

about reached the point of going back through my calendar and copying each

recurring appointments that I will need to end in the future that will
require the same effort.
