I recently installed a new hard drive and attempted to load windows xp back
in using a full install.
My problem is that not all the programs are loading off the cd's
and getting an incomplete installation of OS
most that i could indentify are software bundles
The disk ran all through 1-6. Then started copying files.
Here are the errors
FILE : Windows\Systems32\PNCT.DLL
Problem in extracting process:
FILE:Documents and settings\all users\documents\my music\sample
music\Beethovens symphony9(scherzo).wma
FILE: Program file\intellimover demo\data transferd demo.exe
FILE:Program
files
\sonic\mydvd\styles\pal\DefaultMotionStyles_Lite\DefaultMotionStyles_Lite\Generic1MotionPal.mpg
FILE:Program Files\WildTanget\Games\Game Channel\Dark Orbit\movie.wmv
now here is my question ? It appears that its bundled software and not
windows that is not loading. Can I get around this or should I go back to the
manufacture for another set of disk
These were purchased from COMPAQ as replacement start up disk
Thanks for the help

Will the CD boot XP? If so, you can download the software from the vendor's
site (might not be free).

I had a similar problem reinstalling my Windows Media Center Edition
2005 system. I have two "recovery" disks from Gateway, one of which is a
DVD. Supposedly, the reinstaller was to create a "recovery partition,"
then reinstall Windows. During the installation, I was supposed to be
prompted to insert the DVD with the drivers and applications. But the
recovery partition was never created, and I was never prompted to insert
the DVD. Windows MCE installed correctly, though, so I browsed the DVD
and installed all the OEM software that I wanted. (I left some things
out, like the Office 2003 Trial, since I own a copy of Office XP.)

You might have to do the same. If all you are missing are those sample
and demo files listed above, I'd say you did all right, and call it a day.
