Accidentally overwrote power point file with older version and lost 3 hours

Yes - from your backup medium. If you don't back up
your important files then this is a good time to deal with
this issue. Have a look at the ridiculously low cost of
a 2.5" disk in an external USB case.

No, not an overwritten file, unless there is a backup somewhere.
