Hi !
I have a problem, when i boot from my installation CD
the Windows welcome screen doesn't appear where i can
choose to press "R" to start the recovery console ?
Instead i come directly to the installation menu where
i can only choose to install, delete or format.
It's the screen where you can see staple diagrams of
your partitions(ihave two,C: and D:).
Why doesn't the recovery option "pop-up" ?
How can i get access to the recovery consol from my boot
CD(i dont want to install it to my harddisk)
I have Windows XP-PRO installed.

PLEASE SOMEONE????

Could this be a special CD that is only used to restore
an installation or did you purchase the CD yourself? You
should always get the recovery option. Can you borrow a
friends CD to try?

You can try installing the recovery console as a startup
option. To do this perform the following:

1.Insert the Windows XP CD into the CD-ROM drive.

2.Click Start, and then click Run.

3.In the Open box, type d:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons where
d is the drive letter for the CD-ROM drive.

4.A Windows Setup Dialog Box appears, which describes the
Recovery Console option. The system prompts you to confirm
installation. Click Yes to start the installation
procedure.

5.Restart the computer. The next time you start your
computer, you will see a "Microsoft Windows Recovery
Console" entry on the boot menu.

Hi

After you have pressed 'R' you need to type the number corresponding to your XP installation and then press 'Enter' - this applies if you have a single XP installation. If you just press 'Enter' at this stage - without typing a number - your PC will restart.
