Got a machine that will not boot passed logon..."Can't detect activation" or
something like that.

Found the support article... boot from CD, run recovery console and
reinstall a grocery list of files.

Booting from CD requires Admin password which the CD is convinced is not the
one that it is... found another article, download and mke 6 boot floppies
(back to the future)...

Made the floppies... gets to number 4 and comes up with lbrtfdc.sys is
corrupt and nicely says goodnight. I re-copied the offending file onto the
floppy from CD (original was from download) same problem. So I'm not
convinced it really is a corrupt file. (I'm not convinced it even needs the
file it's being so stubborned about.)

Searched for support article about corrupt lbrtfdc.sys but I don't see
anything that appears relevant.

I'm going to bed... in the morning if I don't find an answer I'll have to
admit defeat and jump off a bridge. :-(

If you did not set a password, you can press enter without a password to access the Recovery Console.
