recovery cd's cause partition error.

I rec ently bought a second hand laptop. I put in the product recovery cd's
that were provided with the laptop and when they finish loading and windows
restarts the blue error screen, that says to run chdsk sugesting that that
the hard driver may be corrupt, comes up. I can use another version of xp
that doesn't double partition the hard drive but alot of the drivers are
missing because its not the oridunal xp provided with the computer and when I
try and repare the provided xp with my other xp disk I get asked for an
administrators password. Can anyone help?
 
You might be able to install with the disk that doesn't double partition and
then grab the drivers off of your Recovery disk after the install is
finished. But if your Recovery disk is a single disk that is an OS only disk,
then you probably won't have drivers on it anyway. The device driver disk is
usually a 2nd disk in a set of Repair/Recovery disks.
 
Infact there is 2 disks you have to put in for the recovery and there is
another disk with drivers but the drivers wont install unless you have the xp
provided on the other 2 disks running. The recovery disks are not like
normal windows disks, the only files on the cd are the ones that partition
the disk (gdisk or something as well as fdisk) and 2 aparently compressed
files that can only be opened by program on the disk, hence not with winzip
or anything. I cant run the decompression program seperate from the
partition program.. heheheh sorry if this makes no sence... I know what i
mean lol... any idea?
