Recovering XP

I was running XP. We lost power and a file was corrupted. My comp's manufacturer didn't give us the recovery disk. Will a purchased copy of XP Upgrade restore the system? Or do I need to purchase the full thing?

In the first place, your best option might be to contact the manufacturer
and ask for recovery disks from them?
 
I suspect your PC supplier must have cloned your specification before
despatch. If this is so, you can recover very quickly (from hidden
folders/partition) but you will loose all your data. the system will be
reset to factory standard.
