Recovering Deleted Files

A folder "My pictures" was accidently deleted and the
recycled bin emptied. I've been looking at some demo
recovery software and can see the deleted folder - files
have a poor chance of recovery.

Are there any Microsoft programs that can recover this?
I'm not sure about using 3rd party software for this...

Hi Michelle,

I believe an inplace upgrade may do that, if you're up for it.

Take your 4 boot diskettes, or CD-ROM (reset BIOS for first boot device), boot to
installation. When you come to "repair" or install, choose install, and go thru the install
process until you get to the last prompt to install or "repair", choose "repair", and it
will replace all files that are generally used in an install.

It's not all that bad.

Don, I hope this was mistakenly posted in this thread. If these
directions are followed, there will be virtually no chance the OP can
recover her picture files.

To the original poster: Microsoft has no such recovery tools available
for Windows 2000. You'll need to use a third party product. I'd
recommend Undelete by Executive Software (www.undelete.com) but I'm
biased. A Google search for "undelete" will show you several other
choices.

Keep in mind that any disk activity after the files were accidentally
deleted runs the risk of overwriting the files you want to recover. If
possible, avoid using the computer until you get some recovery
software.

I hope this helps -
