Recover lost Documents

I Recently Tried to repair XP with the XP home ed. disc. It ended up reinstalling Windows XP over my previous version of XP. How can I recover my Documents from my previous version of XP on . I can locate some of the files under my Old user name but cannot access them to get my pictures and music ..Can anyone help?

HOW TO: Take Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP

For this to work in XP Home you have to boot in safe mode (Pressing F8
repeatedly as soon as information appears on the monitor)
