Dear community,

As newbies in Windows XP Pro, I want to know how to recover a
secondary partition that has been formated.

The partition is not mounted yet in Windows XP Pro. But PartitionMagic
can browse the content of the logical partition that is located in the
extended partition area. There is a folder called "System Information"
that contains a sub-folder "_recovery...". The given partition is 29GB
in size, and PartitionMagic indicates 14MB being in use. It seems all
drive have this folder.

Can anyone tell me how to recover safely from the format operation ?
Is there a procedure that garantee the recovery of all or some data
from this partition ?

Thank you in advance for your support. Have a lot of Fun.

That may be a hidden partition placed there the computer
mfg'r and it contains the recovery files. Mess with it at
your own risk. Suggest you contact the mfg'r (HP/Compaq,
???) and ask them before you delete your system recovery
files.

You likely deleted (by formatting) your recovery information, placed there
by the computer manufacturer. Hope you don't have any problems in the future
where you want to return your system to "as purchased" condition!

It is not clear how you formatted the partition if Partition Magic can
'see' such a folder. That is not part of Windows and not one there
after a normal format, so I must presume you did the format using PM and
it has itself retained that folder. It is not a facility I met in
earlier versions of the program, but see if its tools provide for an
unformat
