Recover after reinstall

I had a problem with my XP OS: I reinstalled keeping the
existing file structure. Under the previous structure, we
had four users. I had kept my directory secure so it
couldn't be access thro other logins. Now, with the
reinstall I can't access my work. The other three are all
fine... but my directory is visible. I can't open it,
can't move it, can't delete it... I want to access it: the
last week's work is not backed up. At worst, I want to
move it so it doesn't take so much space on my partition.
Any suggestions will be gratefully received. Thanks!

You need to take ownership over the old areas, copy out
from them what is needed, and then delete the remainder.
Notice that I did mean to say _copy_ rather than move.

Next time consider doing and upgrade repair install rather
than a fresh reinstall. The upgrade will attempt to retain
prior installed applications, etc. and will retain the old set
of accounts and their storage.
