recording from vinyl onto pc

is there a way to transfer some of my old LPs onto the computer? I don't
want to have to "re-purchase" them. I bought a cable and ran it from the
tuner to the input jack for microphone, but it doesn't show up in any way
that I can determine.......

You'll need a pre-amp to boost the level coming from the turntable.
