Is there a way to capture the boot messages that flash by when you
first turn on the machine?

I'm seeing messages like DDR2 Single Channel (which I think should be
dual channel) and the usual BIOS messages.

No really good way that I know of. You can freeze the process by
hitting the "Pause" key on your keyboard (probably toward the
top-right corner). That will allow you to read what's there before it
disappears. Hit any key to resume the process.

We used to be able to use the "Print Screen" to dump the screen to the
printer at this point, but that was when printers used a parallel port
connection. I'm not at all sure that would work with a USB-connected
printer.

Better to ask in a general h/w group. What you are asking about
occurs before xp boots so asking here is out of place.
