Hello….Anyone out there know how I can get Win XP Pro to allow me to configure my dial-up modem so that I can get on the Internet. Some months back I had a US Robotics 56K dial-up modem working fine on my wife’s machine, then something went sour, so I replaced the old modem and am now tryinig to re-configure the new modem….sounds easy enough. Windows recognizes the modem in the device manager and I get positive feedback when I query the modem….but using the Internet setup Wizard, I get stuck on the part where I am asked to choose what type of connection I want.

I want to click on the button saying “connect using a dial-up modem†but unlike this image, it is greyed-out leaving only the broadband option

Any ideas on how to get me going again? Thanks for your hel

Jim

Use this fix from Kelly's excellent site to reacquire dialup modem option.
