I cannot get Windows XP Pro to recognise that I have plugged in my new Pentax Digital Camera into a USB Port. I have installed and re-installed all necessary software and Pentax Driver however no matter which port I try, Wondows will not identify the new hardware. I have even tried to install manually but without success

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem with my camera and after awhile realised that I had to
flick a switch on the camera - view mode - check your manual for the camera, it
might be just a simple setting on the camera that you've overlooked.
After I did that XP found my camera.

I, too, just installed the drivers, software, etc., for a new camera. As
the book states, you MUST read all install instructions and install all
drivers and software BEFORE ever connecting the camera to the computer's USB
port. And as the other poster says, the camera must be turned on to the
View setting (or whatever your camera calls it). It must be on in order for
your computer to know that anything is attached. And my instructions say it
must be turned on before I connect it to the computer.
