Recipient does not receive attachments

I have recently switched to using a Microsoft Exchange Server for my email.
As soon as I switched I had a problem sending email attachments to one
specific recipient. Even though I format the message in plain text from
Outlook, the recipient receives the message but the attachment (a very small
pdf file) has been stripped from the message. My client has not changed
anything on his end. I am about to try sending it via my old pop3 email
account to see if that works. Any thoughts?
