We have an exchange 2000 server and are using outlook
2000 for office email. We have 35 users. One
particular user cannot receive email automatically. If
she opens Outlook and doesn't click on anything, the new
emails don't appear. All she has to do is click on
another email and then her new emails start arriving. I
have uninstalled and reinstalled outlook to no avail.
This is the only person in the office with this problem.
Her machine is running XP and is new. Any ideas?

Does she keep her messages up on the server, or does she pull them
down to a .pst? It sounds like she's pulling them to a .pst based on
your description. Have you tried scanpst.exe to see if perhaps it
needs to be fixed? If it comes back clean, create a new .pst file
for her to use and see if the problem goes away - that will definitely
eliminate the .pst file. If THAT doesn't work, configure her profile
on another machine and see if the problem occurs there as well. If
not, he problem is machine/ installation specific. if it does, it's
much more likely related to her profile or.pst file.

If everything stays on the server, it could be an issue with her
mailbox. Try archiving her messages (into a .pst file), and deleting
and recreating her mailbox. But, like I said, based on your
description I don't think it's all up on the server.

That's my advice, anyways. Hopefully some of it help - let me know!
