Reboots after shutdown

Disabling the "restart on system failure" made no difference. The system
still reboots after an apparently normal shutdown with no errors displayed on
screen?

Boot to the Recovery Console from XP CD.
Run 'fixboot.exe' when in the recovery console.

See if that helps.

I had that same problem and what worked for me is as follows. Found it on
ASUS forum:
Question:
Why will P5GDC-V Deluxe boot up automatically soon after the motherboard is
shutdown from Windows?

Answer:

Please open the "Marvell Yukon 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabit Ethnet Adapter" in
Device Manager and set item "Advanced" --> "Wake up Capabilities" to "None"
