rebooting problem

I am using XP Pro and until recently things worked fine
enough, but since trying to reinstall XP from the disc to
correct another glitch (like I did a couple times with
the original 98se), every time I reboot the computer
comes up in SET UP MODE and I have to manually choose XP
PRO instead.

I tried to access the WINDOWS tools on the disc, but
couldn't. How do I fix or reset it so that it reboots
normally?

Also, every time I reboot a message appears stating that
a windows registry file has been successfully
recovered.... How can I find out what file that is, and
correct or replace it?

Please help, thanks.

Dave, if it hasnt been too long since you did the last reinstall, I
would format and start over. Do a good thorough scandisk
also.
