Today I have applied Microsoft's redesigned security patches
KB824141, KB828035 and KB826232 to a Win2000 Prof. machine.
I have installed all three patches BEFORE I have booted the PC.
After that I wanted to install Internet Explorer 6 Sp1.
This setup tells me all the time, that another setup before did not
boot the machine and it stops installing. But I had booted the
machine.
So my question is:
Where do setup programs put the "I have to boot" info into the
registry,
that I could patch this?
Thanks a lot.

What is the exact IE message? Sounds like a corrupted installation of IE.

Reinstall I.E. (maybe twice to effect the Updates) and then apply SP1 of I.E.

This should clear up the problem.
