Reauthentification Process

I had installed Vista Business on a relatively low performance box and
decided to build a new one with better performance. So I reformated my old
unit and installed XP on it and installed Vista on the new machine. After a
few days I received a prompt that I needed to autenticate. When I tried to
do this I was told that my copy of Vista was already in use and it gave a
authentification by phone option which others on the list here had told me
about. So I went to that, following all the steps and eventually got a live
person to explain the situation to. I did and he did something and I was in
business. What I don't know is - say I do a reinstall on my new machine.
What code/key do I enter when it prompts for this? I would assume I can no
longer use the key printed on my Vista pacakge. So where do I find the key to
use?

You use the key on the Vista package and you'll probably have to call
again. Ain't activation groovy?

Now, with an Open Source operating system like Linux Ubuntu, activation,
getting "genuine", etc. is not necessary and you can install it on as
many computers as you like and share it with your friends. Plus, it's FREE.

Check out Linux Ubuntu:

I use it and really like it.

Thats the pits that I would have to do the process over again. Its ok but I
have only 40% hearing and have a hard time with Indian dialects. I had to go
through the process twice yesterday to get a dialect I could deal with. Oh
well....

On Ubuntu, I agree. I have it on my Thinkpad T30 and it is amazing. Its
very fast and I really like the look and feel of the interface. Even has
cool sound effects. I only have a rudimentary understanding of the linux
underpinnings but you don't have to know as much these days as in the old
days. More user friendly. I use it for surfing (my ebay business) word
processing, spread sheets and graphics work using Gimp and it has never
failed me. To me its not either/or with Linux vs MS but all of the above. I
started with a Commodore Pet and have used all the operating systems along
the way. Glad we have the variety - life would be boring otherwise! :-)
