Reasons behind having xlsx and xlsm

Apart from storage are there any other reasons for the creating of 2
types of basic file: xlsx and xlsm

Hi WhytheQ

You can't save VBA code in a xlsx workbook, If you want to use code save the file as xlsm.
If you send files to others they know your file is free of code when it is a xlsx, maybe that is something you like.
