I have this problem in one of my folders. In this folder, there's this "new
folder" that keeps on re-appearing even after I have deleted many times and
emptying it from my Recycle Bin as well. I don't know what I can do about
this. Its not a huge problem but its kinda annoying to keep seeing it
re-appearing after I have deleted it so many times. There is no contents in
this folder, its just empty. I have used many spyware programs and
anti-virus programs to check my laptop, but they found nothing. Please help
and thanks in advance.

Hi,

Have you tried moving the contents of the folder (without the offending
New Folder) to a newly created folder with a different name. Then
delete the original folder, restart, recreate the original folder if
you have to have it by the original name, and then move the contents
back?

Could there be a hidden system file in the folder? Make sure the option to
show hidden and system files is activated in "folder options\view.

I tried what you recommended but I just rename the folder name instead of
recreating another folder with the old folder name. So far its working,
let's see how long this will last... thanks for your help.

Hi, I am back. I did "solved" the problem. But when I were to rename the
folder to "My Pictures", the "new folder" will automatically re-appear. So
right now, I do not have a folder by the name of "My Pictures". Instead, I
have called the folder "My Picture" without the "s". However, when I click
on the shortcut to "my Pictures", it will naturally create a My Pictures
folder with the "new folder" inside that folder. Very weird. Do you thing
this can be solved? Anyone? Thanks in advance.

Hi. I have this exact same problem. The "New Folder" is absolutely empty
without any hidden files. I scan my computer for viruses and malware very
very frequently. And also, I could not try what Blue did, which was to rename
the parent folder, because this "New Folder" keeps re-appearing on my
desktop..! If I remember correctly, the problem started when, once, I
downloaded photos from my camera to a newly created "New Folder" on Desktop.
I used one of the downloaded photo as my MSN display picture, and after that
I moved the photos elsewhere and deleted the "New Folder". From then onwards,
the "New Folder" will keep re-appearing even after I deleted it many times.
Exact same problem as Blue. I have tried deleting the "New Folder" in Safe
Mode too, but it didn't work. I have also tried removing the photo from the
list of display pictures in MSN, and then re-adding the photos from their
current location, but the problem persists. Like Blue said, it is really an
annoying rather than a big problem. Any help or advice is greatly
appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Just a shot-in-the-dark.. Change the location of the MSN picture to
another folder, then try the delete. If MSN doesn't proptect it, it
might "stay gone".

I meant to change the MSN display picture to a picture located in
another folder. This might free up the Desktop folder since it will no
longer be referenced by the MSN program.

Hi Elmo, thanks alot for your reply and help.

I can't remember exactly which was the photo I was referring to, but I'm
positive I'm no longer using the same photo as Display Picture because this
problem was from around a year ago. Anyway, I had also tried to remove all
the possible photos in the MSN list of Display Pictures, and re-added them
from their latest locations. Is this what you were suggesting? It didn't
work.. But still, thanks alot!
