Hi,
I have a question, have heard that real one player is not
to good, that it has some extra bugs in it, my daughter
needs it for her college corse, I guess what I am asking,
is it safe to use Real One Player?
Thank you so much for your time.

There should be no problem with installing real player. You will
occasionally get pop ups and apparently it also monitors your web site
browsing and sends information back to real player.

Hello Bonnie,

I use Windows Media Player 9 it can be downloaded for free from:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?displaylang=en

Just find the one that applies to your operating system (I assume you have
Windows XP), download and install. I have used Windows Media Player for a
long time, and I like it! If you have more questions about Windows Media,
just visit the news group for it

I used to have RealONE, but the problem that I found is that it "takes over"
your computer, and it shows ads all the time. So, I got rid of it.

Hope this helps!

Real One has a bad reputation for including unwanted programs with their
free version. IMO, I will not install Real One on my computer for this
reason. However, I understand that they have a option to purchase a version
that does not include the unwanted programs. If your daughter must have Real
One, I would check the purchase option.

It's safe. RealPlayer is just pushy, that's all. As long as the
various options are configured to "no" (no news updates, no
entertainment headlines, no realplayer updates), it shouldn't be too
intrusive. You didn't mention the type of college course, so I don't
know why your daughter needs it. I'd expect her friends to have other
recommendations.
