Ready Boost

Once you have a compliant flash device installed on your PC,
you can enable ReadyBoost for that device.

To enable Ready Boost on your flash device, do the following:

1. Left click on the Start Menu
2. Left click on Computer (in the black menu on the right)
3. Right click on the icon for your flash drive
4. Left click on properties
5. Left click on the Ready Boost Tab
6. Enable ReadyBoost

I just go to Computer and open the flash drive. If it has ReadyBoost listed
then it's on. I have caught mine off after some time. I format it, set it
back up and it works for months. I have just started letting PerfectDisk
defrag it and it has worked without my intervention for a couple of months. I
hope this continues.

This is the best guide.
Thanks

You have some tips on how to configure the Ready Boost drive.

If you want to check the actual performance, do this.

Go to Start and type reliability, in the Results, click the Reliability and
Performance Monitor. Maximize the screen and click the Drive drop down menu.
Look for and click the readyboost.sfcache item under the File column. You
can see the Read/Write activity there.

THANK YOU!
This Core Duo laptop has 2GB RAM, plus a 2GB SD card in the
appropriate slot. According to the Performance Indicator,
ReadyBoost shows READ 20MB and WRITE more than 4GB - the numbers
are in a constant state of flux. Obviously, I cannot translate
that information into something useful, but it appears that data
is being interchanged.

The laptop seems to be "fast" and reliable - both subjective terms.
