some outlook 2003 clients are able to read messages that are smime.p7m
format. unable to determine why some clients can read and some can't? any
suggestions?

Do they have a Cryptigo p7mViewer installed in order to view it?

Thanks for quick response. am aware of Cryptigo file viewer; however, client
that is able to view file does not have file viewer installed. trying to
discover if there are "settings" that allow viewing without installing P7M
viewer app. to further confuse the situation all clients are on the same
intranet serviced by the same Exchange server.

Again thanks for your response.

Is this for a digitally-signed message someone is receiving wherein the
digital signature appears an a p7m attachment (with the name smime.p7m) or
that they receive a message that is supposed to have been encrypted?

Message was forwarded from user on .mil network. On one workstation, in
Outlook, user is able to "view" entire forwarded message. On other
workstations, users see a forwarded message without content but an
attachment labeled smime.p7m. All workstations are using Outlook 2003
serviced by the same Exchange server; non of the workstations have Cryptigo
P7MFileviewer installed.

Thanks for response.

Sounds like the forwarder didn't forward it correctly.
