A few days ago I downloaded and installed Adobe Reader 6. I had been using
Acrobat Reader 5.01 to read PDF files, and understood that Adobe Reader 6
now took the place of Acrobat Reader the this purpose, as well as reading
e-books. When I encountered a PDF file on the internet the Acrobat Reader
would popup in Internet Explorer, and I could read the document on-line, or
even copy it to my machine.

Now I get a blank page instead, and there is no way of reading the document.
Reader dose not pop-up in IE as before. Since I had now the new version 6, I
removed version 5.01. It seems this also removed my ability to view PDF
files within IE. However, the proper plug-in for internet viewing (IA32.api
: in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\plug_ins) in the Adobe
folder.

Is there any way I might be able to now make this work within Internet
Explorer?

Uninstall all versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader and then install the version
you want.

Just posted the same problem and figured it out. I
downloaded Adobe 6 and could not load the page, yet the
page loaded on a computer with an earlier version of
adobe. I went into control panel, clicked on add and
remove programs, clicked on acrobat reader 6. A page came
up giving me the option to repair or remove. I chose
repair and when I went back to load the page it worked.
Hope it works for you too.
