Was it burned with some "packet writing" software like Ahead Nero InCD or
Roxio (formerly Adaptec) Easy CD?
If so - that could be the culprit - since the CD was written using the
packet writing features of a specific application and your Windows XP system
does not have this application (if it was an upgraded system - that version
of the application in question may have been incompatible and disabled) -
and that CD was never "closed" properly - meaning you cannot read it on
another system without the same software installed or until you close the
session properly on the original writing machine.
The original words works was windows 98 backed up to floppy disk. The CD-R is
Memorex Data. Thw XP office works (new) transfer just fine and is readable
and printable, however the floppys containg other words program just won't
write and read - message states files may be corrupted when I know they are
not. No packet CD's were used.
