I am new to Office 2003. I have been using Outlook Express for reading
newsgroups and Hotmail.
I am wondering whether I can use Outlook 2003 for receiving hotmail and
reading news. Craig

I don't know about Hotmail (I think not, but I could easily be wrong), but
for news no you can't by default. If you do a Google for "NNTP for Outlook"
you'll find lots of information about plugins that will add news support,
but as far as I know none are free, and I've found them to be lacking
features compared even to OE.

Personally, I'd stick with OE for news, or find another dedicated news
reader.

Outlook can be used for Hotmail if you have a Hotmail Plus or Hotmail
Premium account. See http://join.msn.com/general/Email . Outlook cannot be
used to read newsgroups. Outlook uses Outlook Express for that.

Hotmail is possible, When setting up your outlook email account just choose
HTTP. In fact it list hotmail as an example of what you can use that
feature for.
