My nephew has a new XP HP Pavillian f1703 with VIA/S3G UniCHrome IGP
monitor.

Trouble is, it is extremely hard to read greyed out lettering on it.

What is the best way to make greyed lettering visible?

Glasses.
I just tried on a pair.
I can't beleive all the grey lettering that I have been missing out on.

Can you give some examples. Grayed out lettering usually means the
function/task is not available.

That's exactly what I mean. But on most computers you can read them without
trouble. My nephew did find a technique of turning his monitor almost flat to
make it a bit easier to read.

I'm trying to set up a wireless LAN to his computer and I do need to read
not-available options as well as those that are available.
