reading email even if not logged in

how do you prevent emails from being read if you are not logged-in to windows
email, I have found that you can read emails on my laptop even if you are not
logged in; how do I prevent this from happening

If you leave your laptop unattended while it is logged in to your Windows
user profile, you are asking for trouble. Even if you could password-protect
your email program, that would still allow access to your non-mail private
documents and pictures. Also, email files are plain text files. Anyone with
even a small amount of computer savvy could open your emails in Notepad.
So, make sure your Windows login uses a password, then when you are
done using the computer, either shut it down, or else press Winkey+L
which will lock it and require a password to log back in.
