I just changed my hard drive to a new SATA model.
Everything else has stayed the same including the use of
XP but now as I have begun to reload my application CDs I
find that my DVD unit won't read the CD with my scanner
software on it when this DVD unit read it just fine when
I built the computer. Every other computer I try the
disk in can read it. I even put another CD player in
this computer with the same results. My DVD unit will
read everything else. I'm guessing it must have
something to do with XP and older software. Any ideas?

What's the error code - is it a 'won't read' or is it an 'install
fails'?
Can you read the CD using explorer? If all else fails, maybe you can
read it on another networked PC and beam it across to a folder on your
hard drive, and install from there?
