for many years I have saved digital photos and photoshop
files on cd's using a computer with windows 98 and hp cd
writer plus. I have now purchased a new computer using
windows xp and many of the files do not show up when I try
to open the discs with xp, especially the discs that were
burned multisession.

A common problem. You probably used Roxio to copy these files or some other
software.
You need a UDF reader installed on XP to read them. XP does not provide one.
You can download and install a free one from the Roxio site.

I also have an HP rewriter. I had problems too. If you
don't have the latest HP software for XP, older CD
writers will not work properly..and probably photos saved
won't either?? It is at least something to try...check
with HP for new XP software for its equipment. Anne
