We have Field Tickets used by 25 different men. These tickets are identical
and are emailed to each man in the field. Each man adds hours, descriptions,
saves the ticket by a job number and emails the completed Field Ticket back
to the office. Periodically the office receives a "read only" version back
from the field. This happens with different men at different times.
Assuming that the men are not purposefully making it read-only, what might
cause an Excel document to become read-only.

Regards,
Gary

Is there any other possible scenarios? These documents are coming from
laptops in the field, with no possible way to copy and save to a CD.

Thanks,

Gary

That's the only "guaranteed" way (that I know) of doing it, that catches
people unaware. You will need to start asking what they are doing with
the file. Ask a few times, and maybe the cause will come to light.
