I have a server and client PC setup. The application & data reside on the
server and is access/manipulated thru the server and client. All of a sudden
the data folder on the server has changed to READ ONLY preventing the client
from being able to access the folder and the data. What's strange is that the
server can still access/manipulate the data. I've tried all ways I can think
of to change the folder from read only but nothing works. I've even tried to
change the folder's parent folder from read only but that doesn't work
either. I've tried using two different user profiles with admin privileges
but nothing seems to work.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Do you mean "read-only" as in "read-only file attribute" or
"read-only NTFS permission"?

You need to examine the shared folder's ACL ( Access Control List ).
Right Click the Folder, take Properties, Security. In the Groups or
Users name - left click the appropriate user and then in the bottom half
of the properties ensure that user or group has Full Access.

Typically the Read-Only attribute is ignored by Windows. You may have
set other special attributes or inadvertently customized the folder, see
if the information here can help:

You Cannot View or Change the Read-Only or System Attribute of Folders

That's not effective for the folder and is no indication of whether the
folder is read only. It's ONLY use is to toggle read-only on and off on
the files contained in the folder. ONLY the file attributes will change
the folder attributes are UNCHANGED by any manipulation of that tick box.
