read only flag when writing to cd

I am trying to transfer a database on my old computer to my new computer via copying to a cd, everytime i do the read only flag is placed on the file. I check the flag on the original database and it is not flagged before sending it to the cd, but then when I check the cd it is flagged. Can anyone help me with this I need to get this database transfered onto my new computer.
 
A cd rom stands for

R=Read
O=Only
M=Memory

A cd-r is thus ALWAYS a read only device. Any file placed on a the cr-r is
thus flagged as read only.

when you copy the file from a cr-rom, then the file retains its read-only
setting.

The solution is after you copy the file from the cd, is to right click on
the file..and un-select the read-only check box....

You can also hide the files in side of a zip utility..and then when you
un-zip to the hard drive..the read-only (or lack of) settings are kept in
tact. I often use www.winzip.com ,and zip the file. If you zip/un-zip, then
you don't have to worry out the read-only flag (I guess you can decide if
right-click and un-check read only flag, or using something like winzip is
less work).
 
CD is read-only media. Copy the database to your new PC and then uncheck
the read only flag.

Why pay for Winzip, when you can use 7-zip (www.7-zip.org) for free?

Hi Maribeth,

Once you have copied your application from the cd to your new computer,
bring up the properties for the transferred files and clear the read only
flag.
