Can I create a briefcase in Win2000 that won't synchronise any changes
to the briefcase files back to the original files? I.e. if there is a
change to the original file I want it synced to my local briefcase
copy, but anything I do to the local copy won't get copied back but
will instead get copied over by the original file. This is because I
need to carry around and read files owned by other people but I don't
want any danger of me accidentally changing or deleting them during a
sync. In short, I need a way to keep an exact copy of a network share
folder that I can quickly and automatically update on my laptop(like a
backup) that I can read any time but can't change unless I change the
orignal file on the share then sync back to my laptop.
I thought I could just set the permissions to the briefcase and all
its files to read-only, but I'm worried this will set all the files on
the orignal share to read-only when I next sync.
Thanks,
Ken
