HI,
a few weeks ago, I copied an Access database from my companies "shared"
drive on a server to a CD and took it home to make changes. I made the
changes on my home computer and recopied it to the CD. I brought the CD back
to work and recopied it to the "shared" drive. Now, a few weeks later, the
database only opens as read-only. When right-clicking on the file name in
Windows Explorer, the attributes boxes for Read-Only and Hidden are
unchecked. I have even attempted to check and uncheck the read-only box to
see if that does anything. I cannot even check them and then uncheck them
because I get the following message: Error Applying Attributes. An error
occurred applying attributes to the file: ...\filename.mdb Access is
denied. Ignore Ignore All Retry Cancel are my only choices at that
point. I can choose ignore and then have the attribute boxes checked and say
ok. However, when I right click again on the file name, the attribute boxes
are unchecked. I have even right clicked onthe file name and chosen copy.
When I go to paste it, I get the following message: Error Copying File or
Folder: Cannot copy filename: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not
full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use. Ok is my
onlu choice at that point.
Any help, suggestions, etc. as to how to make this database "updateable/not
read-only" again is appreciated. Thanks!
