Reactivation problem

After installing some new programs my computer started to run very slowly
and lock up occasionally ...
so I removed the software and did some general tidying up and made matters
worse
I have re-installed Windows XP Pro and SP2 over the top of the existing
installation in the expectation that it would repair the problem
Now,on booting, I get a request to re-activate indows within 3 days since my
configuration has changed.
When I choose the option to Reactivate the program tells me it is already
activated

How can I get rid of the prompt at bootup

Regards and TIA

Possible Resolution:

Boot into Safe Mode.

Then go to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 regwizc.dll , and hit enter.
Then go again to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 licdll.dll , and hit enter again.

Apparently, and I can't say how, the above files became unregistered.
