After using XP Home for 2 years suddenly I am asked to reactivate my Xp Home
software. Apparently this is because I have installed some exta or new
hardware (not recently). Has any one had this message.

PS I am given 3 days to activate or else.

Should I recativate and are there any concerns?

thanks

Hi,

Just reactivate. If reactivating doesn't do it, see:

If your hardware gets changed a lot as part of your routine, but ("not too
much") like I switch my pc from standalone workstation to network client
pretty often -- custom service can give you a code that will alow you to make
"MINOR" changes to your internal hardware (like enabling/diabling NIC,
installing new microcode) wihitout having to re-register. I made 3 calls to
customer reps and the third gave me some 48 digit code that let's me turn
off parts of my hardware like yanking out my NIC and sticking it back in to a
different slot without oobe /A complaining. The reps were all pretty nice and
helpful.

Microsoft has been pretty unfussy about the product activation thing if they
are convinced you are legit and they didn't ask me to get a group license :)

Yes activate it now before you get locked out. It's no big deal to do this
and important that you do it before the grace period expires. Save yourself
some hassle.
