reactivation of windows xp

I am using Windows XP Professional Edition, I am planning to install a new
hard drive for my PC, but with essentially the same parts. Do I need to
reactivate windows via phone, or automatic activation will occur?
 
Are you aiming to make that new drive the master and install XP on
it?.........activation required
or are you making it the slave and leaving XP where it is................no
activation required

Depends on whether it's an OEM version or retail version and when the last
time the OS was activated. It will try internet activation first, and if
that won't work it prompts for phone activation.
