I,ve changed the motherboard & hard drive, now windows needs reactivating.
Can't find a link, or tel number to do this. Can anyone help. Regards Pedro.

Ignore the person who said "buy a new license" - that's ignorant and wrong.
When you attempt to activate your copy of Windows it should offer other
means of activation such as telephone activation, and that's what you need
(telephone activation) to get your problem cleared up.

Where did you get your (obviously incorrect) information?

Also where did you get the idea that Vista costs $500?

The most expensive edition is Ultimate, and it costs $399 for a full retail
copy.

If you know your CD Key, then that's great. I'm assuming that you have
already entered your key and now it just needs to activate. First
click the Start button, right-click on the 'Computer', and click
'Properties'.

Now a new window should pop up, notice the bottom where it says 'X
day(s) until automatic activation. Activate Windows now.'

If your Vista has access to the internet then you have nothing to
worry about, but if you don't: keep reading.

Click 'Activate Windows now' and click 'Use the automated phone
system'.

After that, select the country you live in (straight forward).

Now enter the toll free number on your telephone, which is free of
pay.

Listen to the instructions of the lady on the line (do not worry, it
is an automated person). Follow what she says and enter the code in
the text boxes, and you will have an activation key in no time at all!

If there were too amny pictures, I apologize for that. I myself had a
slow internet and an old computer so I know how it feels waiting for
the whole page to load, especially with pictures!! I found myself in
Google Groups because I had a problem (or more than that) with Vista.
Personally, I hate Vista and I want Windows XP, but I do not know
where to get a SATA controller driver installer when installing
Windows XP. I will try to figure things out, and I hope I have helped
you.

Sincerely,
Ab

Or, more sensibly, type SLUI 4 from an Administrator command prompt and
follow the instructions for telephone activation
